NIELIT CCC Exam Now Quarterly — What Every Student Must Know in 2026

If you are planning to appear for the CCC, BCC, ECC, or ACC exam this year, there is a major change you need to know about right now.

NIELIT officially announced on 1 July 2026 that Digital Literacy Course (DLC) examinations — which include CCC, BCC, ECC, CCCP, and ACC — will no longer be conducted every month. From now onwards, these exams will be held on a quarterly basis — meaning only four times a year instead of twelve.

This is one of the biggest changes NIELIT has made to its DLC examination schedule in years. If you were planning your preparation assuming a monthly exam window, this update changes everything about your timeline.

This guide explains exactly what has changed, what the new schedule looks like, and how to plan your preparation smartly under the new system.

What Has Changed — The Official NIELIT Update

Until June 2026, NIELIT conducted DLC exams every month. This meant that if you missed one exam, you could appear the very next month. If you were not happy with your grade, you could reattempt within 30 days.

    That flexibility is now gone.

As per NIELIT's official public notice dated 1 July 2026, DLC examinations covering CCC, BCC, ECC, CCCP, and ACC will now be scheduled on a quarterly cycle — four exam windows per year instead of twelve.

This change applies across all NIELIT Regional Centers including the Kurukshetra Regional Center, which covers Haryana — meaning students across Haryana, including Kaithal, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Panipat, and surrounding areas, are directly affected by this update.

Why Has NIELIT Made This Change?

While NIELIT has not released a detailed explanation, administrative and logistical reasons are behind this shift. Running monthly exams across hundreds of centers nationwide requires enormous coordination. Moving to a quarterly schedule allows NIELIT to:

    • Improve exam center management and infrastructure utilization

    • Reduce administrative burden on regional centers

    • Ensure more consistent and reliable examination delivery

    • Allow better quality control of the examination process

From a student's perspective, this means more time to prepare — but also fewer chances to appear each year.

What Is the New Exam Schedule for 2026?

Based on the updated quarterly cycle, DLC exams will now be held four times a year. The confirmed upcoming cycle is:

    Cycle

    Exam Dates

    Admit Card Release

    September 2026 cycle

    From 5 September 2026

    Released 3 September 2026

    December 2026 cycle

    From 5 December 2026

    Expected around 3 December 2026

    March 2027 cycle

    From 6 March 2027

    To be announced

The September 2026 cycle was the first full cycle under the new quarterly system. NIELIT issued the public notice on 1 September 2026, released admit cards on 3 September 2026 — just two days before the exam — and rescheduled the 11–13 September exams at the NDL centre because of the BRICS India Summit 2026.

The next one is the December 2026 cycle: the online form closes on 31 October 2026 and the exam begins on 5 December 2026. Full timeline, admit card date and an 11-week study plan are in our CCC exam date 2026 guide.

Always check the official NIELIT student portal at student.nielit.gov.in for the most current dates and any updates before your exam.

    Which Courses Are Affected?

The quarterly schedule change applies to all Digital Literacy Courses (DLC) under NIELIT:

    • CCC — Course on Computer Concepts (most widely required for govt jobs)

    • BCC — Basic Computer Course (entry-level, no minimum qualification needed)

    • ACC — Awareness in Computer Concepts (basic awareness level)

    • CCCP — CCC Plus (advanced version of CCC, requires 10th pass)

    • ECC — Expert Computer Course (advanced, requires 12th pass)

O Level, A Level, B Level, and C Level are separate programmes and follow their own January and July cycle — these are not affected by this change.

How Does This Change Affect You?If you have not yet registered for CCC or another DLC course:

The window between exam cycles is now longer. This is actually good news for preparation — you have more time to study and build your skills properly before appearing. However, it also means that if you miss a cycle, you will wait roughly three months for the next one.

Action: Register as early as possible for the upcoming cycle so you do not miss the window. Do not delay enrollment.

If you were planning to reattempt to improve your grade:

Earlier, a low grade could be improved the very next month. Now, you will need to wait for the next quarterly cycle — approximately three months. This makes it more important than ever to prepare thoroughly before appearing, rather than treating the exam casually with the intention of reattempting quickly.

Action: Take your preparation seriously from the start. Aim for Grade B (65 marks) or above on your first attempt.

If you have a government job application deadline coming up:

Government job notifications have fixed eligibility dates. If your CCC certificate is required by a certain date and you have not yet appeared, the quarterly schedule means you must plan your exam timing very carefully — there is no monthly fallback option anymore.

Action: Check your target job notification's eligibility requirements immediately. If a CCC certificate is required, register for the earliest available exam cycle right now.

What the Quarterly Change Means for Haryana Students Specifically

For students in Haryana targeting state government posts — Clerk, Patwari, Kanungo, Data Entry Operator, and similar roles — CCC remains a mandatory certificate. The NIELIT Kurukshetra Regional Center handles DLC examinations across Haryana.

With the quarterly schedule now in effect, Haryana students need to plan more carefully:

    • If you are preparing for an HSSC, HPSC, or other state-level exam that requires CCC, check the exam date and work backwards to ensure your CCC is ready in time

    • Enroll in a proper CCC preparation course rather than attempting self-study alone — the reduced exam frequency means each attempt matters more

    • Register for the earliest available quarterly cycle to keep your timeline on track

Smart Preparation Tips Under the New Quarterly System

Since exam chances are now fewer, here is how to prepare strategically:

Tip 1 — Start Preparation at Least 6 Weeks Before the Exam The CCC exam covers 10 modules including Computer Basics, MS Office, Internet, Cybersecurity, Digital Finance, and the newly added AI module. Give yourself a minimum of 6 weeks for a comfortable, thorough preparation.

Tip 2 — Aim for Grade B or Above — Not Just a Pass Passing (Grade D, 50 marks) is not enough for most government job requirements. Many Haryana and UP state notifications specify Grade B (65 marks) or above. Prepare to score well — not just to clear.

Tip 3 — Practice on a Computer Daily CCC is an online exam conducted on a computer at NIELIT-authorized centers. If you are not comfortable typing and navigating on a computer regularly, start practicing now. Familiarity with the exam interface reduces stress on exam day.

Tip 4 — Do Not Ignore the AI Module NIELIT updated the CCC syllabus (R5) to include an Introduction to Artificial Intelligence module. This is a new addition that many students underestimate. Questions from this module do appear in the exam — prepare it alongside the traditional modules.

Tip 5 — Download and Practice with Previous Year Papers Previous year CCC question papers are available on the NIELIT portal and through authorized training centers. Practicing these gives you a clear picture of question patterns, difficulty level, and time management.

Tip 6 — Enroll Through an Authorized Center With fewer exam chances per year, guidance matters more. A NIELIT-authorized training center provides structured preparation, practice tests, and ensures your registration is done correctly — avoiding technical errors that can waste a full quarter.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1. Has NIELIT really changed CCC exams from monthly to quarterly? Yes. NIELIT issued an official public notice on 1 July 2026 confirming that Digital Literacy Course (DLC) examinations — including CCC, BCC, ECC, CCCP, and ACC — will now be conducted on a quarterly basis instead of the existing monthly cycle.

Q2. When is the next CCC exam after the September 2026 cycle? The next cycle is December 2026 — the exam begins on 5 December 2026 and the online form closes on 31 October 2026. There is no October or November exam; the quarterly windows are March, June, September and December. Exact dates will be announced by NIELIT on nielit.gov.in. Check the official portal regularly for updates.

Q3. Does this change affect O Level and A Level exams? No. O Level, A Level, B Level, and C Level examinations follow a separate January and July cycle and are not part of this change. Only DLC courses (CCC, BCC, ECC, CCCP, ACC) are affected.

Q4. I was planning to reattempt CCC to improve my grade. How does this affect me? Under the quarterly system, your next reattempt will be approximately three months after the cycle you missed or did not perform well in. Plan your timeline accordingly and prepare more thoroughly before your next attempt.

Q5. Can I still register for the July–August 2026 cycle? Registration details for the July–August 2026 cycle are available on the official NIELIT student portal at student.nielit.gov.in. Contact your nearest NIELIT-authorized training center immediately to confirm the registration window and deadline.

Q6. Will the exam syllabus also change with the quarterly system? No syllabus change has been announced alongside the schedule change. The CCC R5 syllabus — which includes the AI module added in recent updates — remains the current syllabus for 2026.

Q7. I need CCC for a government job application due soon. What should I do? Act immediately. Check the next available quarterly exam cycle and the admit card dates. Enroll through an authorized center right away so your registration is processed in time. Do not wait — missing a quarterly cycle means a three-month delay.

Q8. Where should I check for the latest NIELIT exam updates? Always use the official NIELIT website at nielit.gov.in and the student portal at student.nielit.gov.in for the most accurate and current information. Avoid relying on unofficial websites or social media for exam dates and admit card information.

    Final Word

The shift from monthly to quarterly CCC exams is a significant change that affects lakhs of students across India. The days of a quick monthly retry are over. Every attempt now counts more, and planning your preparation timeline carefully has become essential.

If you have been delaying your CCC registration — now is the time to act. The December 2026 form closes on 31 October 2026, and the next opportunity after that is the 6 March 2027 exam.
