The O Level course fee has two separate parts, and almost every page that ranks for this question only tells you about one of them.

At Zed-King Group of Institute, Kaithal, the O Level course fee is ₹20,000 for the full one-year course. On top of that you pay NIELIT directly for registration and the exams — about ₹4,000 spread across the year. So the realistic all-in cost of an O Level certificate is roughly ₹24,000.

Below is the exact split, what each payment is for, when it falls due, how long the course really takes, and the full syllabus. Zed-King is a NIELIT Study Centre (ACCR-O3292) under the Ministry of Electronics & IT, Government of India.

Bank charges apply on the NIELIT payments, so treat the NIELIT side as roughly ₹4,000–₹4,300 rather than an exact figure. The ₹500 registration is a one-time payment valid for five years — you do not repay it each semester, and it also covers you if you need to re-appear in a module later.

Two things worth knowing before you compare quotes anywhere else. NIELIT's own institutes charge around ₹22,680 for the same one-year course, typically in two installments — so ₹20,000 is not a cut-price offer, it is the normal range. And any institute quoting you a single all-inclusive number below about ₹10,000 is either excluding the NIELIT exam fees or is not an authorised centre.

Is the O Level Fee Fixed by the Government?

Partly — and this is the single most misunderstood thing about O Level fees.

The NIELIT side is fixed. Registration ₹500, theory ₹750 per module, practical ₹500, processing ₹100 per form. These are NIELIT's published charges and no institute can change them, discount them, or collect them on NIELIT's behalf without your login. You pay them yourself on the student portal.

The teaching fee is not fixed. Every authorised study centre sets its own course fee for classes, lab time and study material. That is why you will see ₹15,000 at one place and ₹30,000 at another for the same certificate. The certificate is identical — what differs is lab hours, batch size and whether the centre actually handles your registration properly.

So when someone asks what the government O Level fee is, the honest answer is about ₹4,000. The rest is tuition, and it is worth asking exactly what it buys.

O Level Course Duration — How Long It Really Takes

    Question

    Answer

    Official duration

1 year — two semesters, 540 learning hours

    Duration at Zed-King, Kaithal

    1 year

    Semester 1

    M1 and M2

    Semester 2

M3 and M4, plus practical and project

    Exam cycles

Twice a year — January and July

    Registration validity

5 years — you may clear modules across cycles

    Realistic time to certificate

12–18 months, depending on which cycle you join

The gap between "one year" and "12–18 months" is where students get caught out. O Level exams happen only in January and July. If you join in, say, February, your first exam window is July and your second is the following January — so the certificate lands about 12 months later. Join in August and the same course finishes at almost the same time. Join as close to the start of a cycle as possible.

The five-year registration validity is a genuine safety net. If you clear three modules and miss one, you do not restart and you do not repay the registration — you carry that module to the next cycle. Unlike CCC, there is no all-or-nothing attempt.

O Level Syllabus 2026 — The Four Modules

The current revision (R5) has four compulsory theory modules plus a practical and a project. This is not an office-tools course — two of the four modules are Python programming and IoT.

    Code

    Module

    What you actually learn

    M1-R5

Information Technology Tools and Network Basics

    PR1-R5

    Practical

Free O Level Study Material — No Fee, No Login

You do not have to pay anyone to see what the course involves. Our Study Zone carries the O Level material we teach from, and it is open to everybody:

There are 40 theory mock test sets across M1–M4 and a practical test engine that runs real Python in the browser. All free. Look at the material before you pay any institute — including us.

    Eligibility for O Level

    • 12th pass in any stream — commerce, arts and science all qualify

    • 10th pass + a one-year ITI certificate

    • Or an equivalent qualification recognised by NIELIT

    • No age limit, and no computer background required

You can do O Level alongside graduation, a job or another course, and most of our students do exactly that. There is no attendance rule imposed by NIELIT.

    If you fail one module

Re-appear in that module only, in the next cycle

Each module stands on its own. A strong score in M3 will not carry a weak M1 — you need 50% in each, which is why doing all four in one go without practice is a common way to lose a cycle.

    Government Jobs After O Level

O Level appears by name in a long list of central and state recruitment notifications:

    • Junior Assistant / Computer Operator — UPSSSC and several state commissions ask for NIELIT O Level specifically

    • Data Entry Operator (DEO) — central and state departments

    • Lower Division Clerk (LDC) — where a computer diploma is required

    • Computer Operator in police, courts and banks — UP Police Computer Operator requires O Level

    • Posts that ask for CCC — O Level is a higher NIELIT qualification and most departments accept it in place of CCC, though you should always confirm in the specific notification

For Haryana students targeting HSSC and CET posts, O Level also carries weight anywhere computer knowledge is tested. The full list with the wording notifications use is in our government jobs after NIELIT courses in Haryana guide, and how NIELIT certificates are treated in government recruitment explains the equivalence rules.

Computer Operator, Junior Assistant, DEO — posts asking for a diploma

    Best for

    Clearing a certificate requirement quickly

Building an actual IT qualification and skills

If a recruitment deadline is what you are chasing, CCC is the faster route — see the CCC exam date 2026 and form last date. If you want a qualification that keeps paying off, O Level is worth the year. A detailed comparison of the next step up is in O Level vs A Level.

O Level at Zed-King Institute, Kaithal

Zed-King Group of Institute is a NIELIT Study Centre in Kaithal, Haryana, authorisation number ACCR-O3292, under the Ministry of Electronics & IT, Government of India. The O Level course here runs one year at ₹20,000, with installments available.

    What that fee covers:

    • Classes for all four modules — M1, M2, M3 and M4

    • Daily computer lab practice, which is what the practical exam actually tests

    • Study material for every module, plus the free Study Zone notes and mock tests

    • Project guidance and submission through the centre

    • Registration support on the NIELIT portal — done wrongly, a form is rejected and you lose a full six-month cycle

The NIELIT registration and exam fees are paid by you directly to NIELIT on the student portal. We do not collect them, and no authorised centre should.
